About Us
Macit Motor Yenileme is a workshop in Tuzla, Istanbul that carries out reconditioning work on marine main and auxiliary engines. Part of the work is done at the shipyard or port where the vessel is, and part of it in our workshop at Birmes Sanayi Sitesi.
Our founder has been doing this work since 1995. We work with portable, purpose-built machines and rigs; that is what makes it possible to grind a crankpin without removing the crankshaft and to hone a liner in place.
What We Do
- On board
- Crankpin grinding and polishing, stress-relief heat treatment, cylinder liner honing, grinding of liner and crane seating faces, laser alignment checks, dimensional inspection and crack detection.
- In the workshop
- Measuring, grinding and machining of crankshafts and engine parts that are removed and brought to us.
- What we do not do
- Spare parts or engine sales, turbocharger overhaul.
How We Work
Measurement first
Every job starts with taking dimensions. Hardness is measured and cracks are checked where needed; these readings set the scope of the job.
We state the limits
Not every damage can be removed by grinding or honing. Honing does not correct ovality; a liner beyond limits must be replaced. We say so plainly once the measurements are in.
Workmanship only
We do not sell spare parts or engines. Parts such as bearings and liners are supplied by the owner or the agent; we carry out the workmanship.
Handed over with measurements
When the work is done the dimensions are taken again and the results are reported.
